Recently, I was able to participate in a healing with the Lord and I would like to share the story with you. I am a Nurse Practitioner and was seeing an 89-year-old woman accompanied by her daughter. The woman was suffering from severe arthritis in several joints, but her right shoulder had the worst pain. She had seen several specialists and was told that she really needed a shoulder replacement, but this surgery was not recommended for her because of her age and other health conditions. She was very discouraged and crying in the office with me because there did not seem to be a good option for pain control for her.

I told her that sometimes when I pray for people, Jesus heals them. Then I asked, “Would you like to see if Jesus would heal you today?” She said yes. I asked for the presence of God to come in the room with us and said a very simple command prayer. Nothing. She was not better at all, and the pain was still 15 out of 10 for her. In my mind’s eye, I saw what seemed to be a weight on her shoulder, and I asked her if she felt weighed down. I told her about the image, and she began to cry. She said that she has felt weighed down for years by unforgiveness towards her parents. I then asked if she felt like she could forgive her parents today. She said for the first time, she thought she could forgive them. So, I led her through a quick forgiveness prayer. At that moment her shoulder started to feel better! She told me the pain was now a 5 out of 10! She was getting so excited, and her daughter’s jaw dropped to the floor. I told her this was Jesus healing her and asked the Lord for more. She began to move her shoulder all around and was astounded that she could not feel pain anymore. She was now crying for joy. She said that she knew Jesus loved her because she was told this her whole life, but now she KNEW Jesus loved HER. I was able to see her for a follow– up a few weeks later and the pain was still gone. She wanted more prayers!

I reflect on this healing and come away with a few thoughts. You are never too old for God to heal you on the inside as well as the outside. It’s never too late to forgive! I imagine that this woman’s parents were long in the grave when this inner healing happened. God’s heart is for healing; keep coming to Him to ask for it! He wants you to KNOW that He loves YOU specifically and intimately.
