Kairos Prison Ministry

The Kairos Prison Ministry mission is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women, and youth, as well as their families. Kairos serves inside 28 Georgia prisons and in outside programs for families. Locally, the team volunteers at the Augusta State Medical Prison.

The Kairos program starts with a Weekend that consists of carefully structured talks, meditations, and individual and group activities. For many participants, the Kairos Weekend creates the desire to become a Christian, and for others the desire to continue spiritual growth. After the weekend, “Prayer and Share” accountability groups and Reunions with volunteers are held regularly. The ultimate goal of Kairos is to build a Christian community to pray and fellowship together by nurturing each other in their faith walk and providing accountability. This is the heart of Kairos!

The fact that we return again and again to each prison for both Prayer and Share and for Reunions is what distinguishes Kairos from other prison ministries. It can be very challenging to maintain a Christian lifestyle in prison, and without follow up support, the efforts of the weekend would quickly be lost to the prison environment.

There are many ways to support. First and foremost we ask that you pray for Kairos. We are supported financially by donations from friends, local churches, and volunteers. There’s also membership on inside teams. We desire to share this experience of ministering to the community at ASMP.
